To the Honorable President of the Republic of the Philippines,

I hope this letter finds you well. How are you? I hope everything is in its right place. Or is it, really?

Others sometimes fail to comprehend that presidency is a position that no one could easily acquire. A person must have the right characteristics, values, and principles to be able to handle a whole nation. That's exactly what you made 31 million Filipinos think: that you embody those aforementioned words. But in this current state of our nation, I wonder if the Filipinos who voted for you regret shading your name. As a citizen, I would like to raise a few suggestions about a recurring issue that has long been lingering.

Mr. President, when will we be given the chance to have access to quality education? As a learner in a public school, I have witnessed firsthand the hardships and struggles that teaching personnel and students are currently facing. On top of this are the widespread shortages of classrooms, teachers, materials, and inadequate funding. These issues make it difficult for our youth to reach their maximum potential. In comparison to other countries, we've long been outdated. With these problems at present, I, as a part of the youth, ask for your truthful commitment in honing our education system into a better one.

May you provide your citizens with enough budget allocation to improve learning facilities, provide modern learning materials, and strengthen teacher training. I hope you also comprehend the importance of integrating innovation in our educational system for us to be at par globally. Please bear in mind that our teachers are the cornerstone of learning; thus, it is just right to give them fair financial compensation, reduced workload, and continuous professional development. Aside from this, I hope you thoroughly filter those who govern our nation. It must be ironic that we all want to progress, yet you continue to allow predators inside the executive and legislative sectors of our government: those who think they're superior to everyone, and make selfish decisions that only they themselves will benefit from.

I hope you start to embody the true essence of leadership. With integrity, transparency, and a will to serve, I believe that these goals can be achieved. May you finally start guiding our nation to its betterment. Thank you for your time and attention. God bless you.

Respectfully yours,
Jillian Santiago Bilgera
